My Story
Alfonsina is an Orchestral Conductor and Flute Player. She has a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting by the University Alfonso X The Wise and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Music Theory by the University of Chile.
She was born and raised in Santiago de Chile and finished her bachelor degree thanks an excellency award by the Chilean Government. She keep studying conduction with Miguel Angel Castro and flute with Roberto Cisternas and Jaime Vásquez. After studying with many renowned Chilean and foreign conductors such as David Handel, Iñigo Pirfano, Kaytlin Bove, Mariana Farah, Carolyn Watson, Eduardo Browne,Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Denise Ham, Dominic Grier among others. She moved to Madrid to study her Master’s Degree with Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado thanks to “Chile Crea” scholarship by the Chilean Ministry of Arts and Culture.
Along the development of her conductor career, Alfonsina was a soprano singer at the Symphony Choir of the University of Chile, besides being a professor and teacher of several educational centres and Universities. Always preoccupied of rescuing the LatinAmerican and Chilean musical patrimony, she wrote a chilean musical book and is currently writer of “Las vueltas del Run-Run” podcast.
For three years was the principal conductor of the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra of Curacaví and the Presbyterian Choir “San Esteban”, working with many kinds of music, from sacred to latin american fusion.
Since her time in Madrid, she has developed a great expertise on remote working, having a large amount of students from around the world and even creating albums and conducting ensembles remotely. Currently she is the Musical Director of “Eloísa Diaz: Ciencia Urgente”.
